Membership:
Membership of the Corporation consist of one representative from each of the eleven counties bordering the Altamaha River and shall be appointed by the Board of Commissioners of each county (dues $250); one representative from each of the following nonprofit organizations and shall be appointed by their respective Board of Directors; The Nature Conservancy, McIntosh County Seed, Coastal Georgia RC&D Council, Seven Rivers RC&D Council, Altamaha Riverkeepers, and the Georgia Nature Based Tourism Association; one representative of any business located in or doing business in the Altamaha River Watershed; two members from each of the following agencies; DCA, GDEcD, GA Coastal Management Program, DNR Sport Fisheries Division, and NRCS staff providing technical assistance to the Coastal GA and Seven Rivers RC&D Councils and interested private citizens (Dues $25).
Purpose:
Altamaha River Partnership, Inc. is organized, and shall be operated primarily for the following purposes: 1) to increase nature-based tourism and create jobs in the counties adjoining the Altamaha River including the following counties: Appling, Glynn, Jeff Davis, Long, McIntosh, Montgomery, Tattnall, Telfair, Toombs, Wayne and Wheeler Counties, 2) to market the river corridor as a tourist destination, 3) to upgrade tourist facilities along the river to better service Altamaha River-based recreational activities, and 4) to educate the general public along the river, its natural features, and environmental threats to it.
